Direct extension of a sigmoid colon cancer to a uterine leiomyoma and adherent small intestine

Abstract  Metastases localized to the uterus, without involvement of the ovaries, are very rare and usually result from either the direct infiltration of adjacent sigmoid colon carcinoma cells or their spread via the blood stream. Here we describe an interesting case of sigmoid colon carcinoma infiltrating a subserosal leiomyoma and small intestine adherent to the myoma. A patient presenting with a growing uterine mass with the absence of uterine bleeding should be evaluated for uterine metastases of colon carcinoma.
